Review : Perfect for upgrading old train sets
My model railroad layout used to mostly consist of Life-Like's Power-Loc track. I liked the roadbed (no nails), and the lack of joiners. But the rails were steel and needed cleaning very frequently, and it did look a bit toy-like on a 4x8 sheet of plywood with landscaping, buildings and accessories. So I figured it was time to upgrade to Code-83, having seen reviews on how it's a more semi-professional kind of HO railroad track. I thought rather than the standard Code-83 starter set, I would begin with Atlas True-Track.
Long story short, the True-Track looks much nicer on my layout, AND more realistic (the roadbed isn't so high up, and the more realistic-looking brown ties are also a nice detail.) It also performs better than the Power-Loc in most cases. I just kept all my existing locomotives and rolling stock, then hooked up the terminal joiners connected to the rails to my original power pack, and started it up.
